Island History: Country Inn, Waipahu....Planned, integrated shopping centers were first constructed in Hawaii during the late 1940's and early 1950's. The first such development, the Aloha Shopping Center, opened in 1947 on a .75 acre site on Farrington Highway, Waipahu. This modest beginning contained only nine stores, a building area of 6,000 square feet, and fifty parking spaces....

Have three kids here. Jacqueline 32, charlotte N. C., Jason 29 married with 2 kids. Olivia 7 and Kai 3. Jamielyn 24 living in Birmingham, Al. Tow of the girls not married yet. Married haole girl from Kentucky for 35 years now. U.S. Army 73 to 85, sign painting business. Couple part time jobs besides sign work. On medical retirement now it kicked in just in time to, ha ha. Just taking care of my grand-daughter Onalani, house work and what nots'.

Being a INSPIRATION is .....Having fun....watching all the cute boys...joking...laughing....crying....being called "Perspirations"....racing down the Sky Slide....eating...making a 50 yard dash for the exit when the band plays a slow
song...going to the movies....trying to catch up with your dues...going through Magic Island with our highlights on (thats a no no!) ...stringing plumeria streamers...three cars zooming down the highway looking for the nearest restroom....last minute planning.....having it out in meetings....winning the Ecstacys at football..tying the Castelles in bowling....hoping to have an outer island trip this summer....but most of all....staying together through thick and thin as the INSPIRATIONS !!!!!!!

Whatever happened to Anthony LaPuente ?
Island History: February 20, 1969 Governor John Burns, in his State of the State speech, urges lawmakers to "keep Hawaii Hawaiian..." He also says our population of immigrant descendants suffers from "a subtle inferiority of spirit..." which is totally unwarranted, but it becomes a "social and pyschological handicap in life." Burns says people who grew upo in pre-WWII Hawaii "know full well what i mean."

Island History: December 8, 1970 Stockholders approve a merger of ALOHA and Hawaiian Airlines, but the deal doesnt happen. Both airlines accuse the other of unfair, monopolistic practices. On February 14, 1975, a federal jury awards ALOHA Airlines a $4.5 million victory, but the two airlines agree to pay August 23, 1976. Budget Rent-A-Car agrees to pay $400,000 to Aloha.
